So this was the summer WarmUp I was waiting for. James Murphy and Pat Mahoney on the 1 and 2’s mixing up some bumpin’ beats to get the crowd dancin’. My friend Juan and I were stoked to get down but maybe had too high of expectations. James and Pat mixed up a special disco set which personal not my genre to dance to. It was not that they were bad either, it was just a surprise that they suck with disco/80’s abscure music the whole 2-hour set. I remember seeing the two at Guggenheim and the set they spun was off the wall. I never saw the Guggenheim get so many people moving so when I heard the two was going to be at PS1 I thought the crowd would go bananas. There was moments in the set that got a crowd somewhat moving but definitely not everyone. PS1 was definitely sold out and packed. Juan and I decided to leave a bit early to beat the rush out and also to get a bite to eat. Here are a few pictures at PS1.

I thought it was interesting to see this year’s Young Architect’s installation. They use sustainable materials and promote an eco-friendly landscape of shrubs and other greeneries. I personally thought it was kind of funny that they created a sustainable design for the most unsustainable people. Tons of cigarette butts and empty beer cups lying all over this sustainable installation. Juan thought it was funny.
This past Saturday, I went to Coney Island with Jaki Levy to check out this summer’s Siren Music Festival. It’s been quite sometime since I last met with Jaki and we decided to make it a photography trip. Indie rock band entertained thousands of fans in the eerily beautiful Coney Island amusement park. Here are a few photographs I managed to capture underneath the hot beating sun.

This past Saturday, I managed take some time to relax with some friends at Studio B to see The Teenagers and Hot Chip spinning the after party. I was really hoping Hot Chip would perform but figure djing the after party was the next best thing. The Teenagers performance was average at best, probably since Studio B was the last stop on their tour. I managed to videotape their better songs in their set which did get the crowd moving.

My friends and I didn’t let this stop us from having fun. I was around fun people who love to dance and dancing is what we precisely did to the early morning. The Hot Chip set was a good mix of upbeat dance electronica with a sprinkle of 80’s favorites cut up in between. One of our friends probably danced a bit too hard and managed to lose part of her earring. This was definitely not part of her “concept.”
Despite the unfortunate discovery of her broken earring, we all had a good laugh while waiting for the late night G train to arrive. The L train was however a even longer wait since only the Manhattan bound side was shuttling in and out of the city. I was lucky enough to capture a short video clip of our fun adventure home. If someone at Studio B that night finds a part of an earring (though highly unlikely), we’d love to hear from you.
